Creative Recovery: After Bushfire

Artist market returns

JANUARY 2020

“The feedback down my end of town was very positive. Terrific event, and well done to everybody in making this a successful weekend for our community and gorgeous little town.”

One of the many cancellations caused by the bushfire was the Gathered Christmas Market, scheduled to be held at Fabrik over the weekend that the fire occurred.

Fabrik worked with the organisers to represent the artist market as Re:Gathered in January 2020, as on opportunity to attract visitors to the town to support local businesses. Fire effected businesses were offered free stall spaces and the shops in Lobethal’s main street were included in the planning and marketing.

The event was held during the peak of the #bringanesky period, and over 6,000 people attended the two day event. The Lobethal CFS raised $10,500 in donations and businesses all along the street reported busy days and strong sales. The event was a clear demonstration of the way an arts event can contribute to economic impact in the wider community.

“Absolutely knackered. Great day! We will be better prepared tomorrow now we have an idea of the crowd.”
