Art and apples

As an arts organisation in a regional town we know how important it is to be connected to the community around us. The picturesque valley of Lobethal is nestled amongst grazing land, wine grapes and fruit orchards so we were delighted when we had the opportunity to team up with the Apple and Pear Growers Association of SA and create an event to celebrate all things apple and pear: the inaugural Pome Fest.

The event, held in June 2019, marked the end of the harvest season and brought together fresh produce, ciders, master chef demonstrations, artisan wares, pruning and grafting workshops and wonderful childrens’ activities.

Nearly 1,000 visitors came along, stocking up on apples, cider, fruit trees and delicious home baked, apple-themed goodies from the Country Women’s Association.

COVID-19 has interrupted plans for a POME Fest during 2020 but we hope to see another one soon!
