As the Fabrik Arts + Heritage major re-development nears completion, we’re seeking volunteers and professionals to helps us write the next chapter of the Fabrik story.

The early spring launch of the heritage-listed arts and cultural hub in Lobethal will welcome visitors and artists from near and far.

The space will pay tribute to its textile roots through museum displays and showcase exhibitions. It will also include maker studios, host artist workshops, events, and offer rooms for hire. The newly built pavilion will house a carefully curated shop of artisan-made goods.

Fabrik will connect with contemporary art practice, domestic makers, First Nations cultural practices and international traditional textile production, while exploring textile sustainability, reuse and recycling to write the next chapter for this beautiful site.

We’re looking for people who are passionate about growing the arts in regional communities, who work collaboratively, and are great with people.

It will take a village to re-open Fabrik and volunteers are vital to our operations. They will help us warmly welcome our visitors and provide a high-quality experience, share information about exhibitions, tell stories about our spaces, host groups, and help guests explore the beautiful heritage listed site.

The Fabrik volunteering experience provides the opportunity to take park in enriching events, diverse training and workshops, and to be part of our creative community.

We aim to offer our volunteer and visitors a best-practice experience at Fabrik. Our volunteer induction process is in line with National standards and includes online induction modules, undertaking a National Criminal History check, as well as acknowledging and accepting Codes of Conduct for Volunteer, for Child Safe Environments, Technology and Confidentiality and Work Health and Safety.

This process may take a few weeks to complete. Our friendly volunteer coordinators will guide you through the process step by step. Please note, it may be that not all applications can be accepted.

Before commencing, a site induction at Fabrik and face-to-face informal training for each role will occur. New volunteers will have the opportunity to shadow others until confident in the role.
