Learn the art of ebru (marbling) and create your own unique fabric pieces by painting on the water surface with amazing marble patterns.

In this workshop, Eda Tevrizci of Marbling Art Studio will be sharing her expertise about how to create colourful and mesmerising abstract patterns on fabric by applying paint on the water surface.

Eda will share with us:

    • A brief history of ebru – the art of marbling
    • Review of the tools & materials used for fabric marbling
    • Information about pre-treatment process of your fabric for marbling
    • Information about preparing the marbling “size” (viscous solution)
    • The technique and application process of the paints for creating unique designs on the size surface
    • Transferring marbled patterns onto fabric
    • Information about after treatment of the fabric

In the session participants will first start with a few examples of paper marbling to become familiar with the process and then proceed with fabric pieces. Each participant will have their own trays (30x40cm) to marble 2-3 pieces of small sized fabric (28x28cm). There will also be a large size tray which will give each participant the opportunity to create one 50x50cm marbled chiffon scarf.

By the end of the session, participants should gain the basic instructions of the fabric marbling process so that they could practice the whole process at their discretion.

Please wear old clothes & old shoes as the process of marbling can become a little messy!

This class is suitable for adults of all skill levels.

Expert tuition plus lots of friendly support included. Cups of tea + coffee plus simple refreshments will be provided. (Refreshments provided will include gluten free offerings as well as a plant-based milk option.)

This workshop will take place in the clubrooms at beautiful Bushland Park overlooking the water, a 4-minute drive from Fabrik. Look out for the white FABRIK signage at the entry way (opposite Brettig Road) on the day.
