Freestyle Basketry with Deb Twining

Thursday 28 May 2020 and Thursday 11 June 2020
2:30 pm – 4 pm

Cost: $70

Take part in this fave workshop in our new ‘fusion format’ that includes a parcel of materials + online tuition with fabulous Deb Twining.

In response to the current directives to stay at home, we’ve re-shaped our workshop offerings from the usual face-to- face facilitated workshops held at Fabrik to an equally lovely new ‘fusion format’.

The fusion format for our Freestyle Basketry workshop includes: a crafty care package posted to you + 2 x 1 & 1/2 hour online workshop sessions beautifully facilitated by Deb Twining of Twining Arts. We’ve hosted Deb’s basketry workshop a couple of times now and it’s always so well received and offers such a lovely project to immerse yourself in or pick up and add to over time – just right, we thought for times such as these.

The online sessions are planned as follows:

Thursday 28th May – 2:30 PM -4:00 PM. The ‘Get Started’ session:

Where Deb will demonstrate how to begin your own basketry piece. She’ll introduce you to a variety of basket shapes and alternative weaving materials sure to inspire. You’ll receive up-close, expert tuition of a variety of basketry stitches and techniques to be able to confidently carry on with your project.

Thursday 11 June – 2:30 PM -4:00 PM. The ‘How to Finish’ session – Where you’ll have time for any trouble shooting during our Q & A session, be able to share with the group how your basket is emerging in a round of Show & Tell plus (most importantly) learn from Deb how to finish off your piece.

We are enjoying putting together the crafty care packages. Each one contains:

• a detailed instruction booklet prepared by Deb, filled with photos, weaving diagrams, hints and variations;

• a materials pack – lovingly prepared by Deb consisting of a screen printed dilly bag of coloured and natural raffia and needles.

• an invitation to the Zoom sessions, including all the details, step-by-step about how to join us online so that each session runs smoothly.

This workshop is suitable for anyone with a creative interest, regardless of age or previous stitching experience – it’s a perfect free-style adventure you can take from home.

Once registered, we’ll contact you via email (on the next business day) to ask you to share with us your postal address and we’ll get your crafty care pack in the post quick smart!

(We’ll do our best to be super-speedy to try and overcome any time constraints that may occur while Australia Post is in such high demand).

Cost of postage is included in the workshop fee.

Once your registration is complete Eventbrite will automatically generate an email sharing with you the Zoom login link and the password for each session. It will also automatically re-send this to you 48 hours prior, 2 hours prior, and 10 minutes before the event begins. (It’s super helpful like that!)

We can’t wait to weave along with you all.
