Creative Community Crafting Sessions

At Fabrik, it’s our pleasure to offer a series of no-cost community crafting session as a part of our Creative Recovery program. Each session has a different crafting focus and is hosted by a friendly volunteer who also doubles as a crafting mentor (aka ‘brains-trust’), ready and willing to share expertise should you need. Feel welcome to bring along your crafting work in progress and craft  with supportive and creative company.

All skill levels are welcome, even if you are a beginner you are absolutely welcome to come along and seek crafting support from the friendly expert(s) in the room.

While Fabrik’s buildings are closed for redevelopment, these sessions are held at the Bushland Park clubrooms, overlooking the water. Bushland Park is located at 27 Kenton Valley Road, Lobethal with the carpark entry opposite Brettig Road. (Also shown as Lobethal Bushland park Nature Playground by Google maps). Please look for directional signage on the day.

The timetable of free community crafting sessions for February, March and April 2023 are as follows, no bookings are necessary, please feel welcome to join us on any or all of the dates listed below.

  • On the 2nd Wednesday of each month – the Yarning Circle for lovers of knitting, crochet and woolly projects. This session is from 11am – 2pm, participants bring their own lunch. (February 8, March 8, April 12 2023)
  • On the 3rd Monday of each month – from 1-4pm is the Spin Cycle, a group for spinners + their wheels, weavers with their table-top looms  and favourite fleeces. (February 20, March 20 & April 17 2023)
  • On the 4th Wednesday of each month – our Craft + Connect session, where participants bring along any current creative work in progress to work on with fellow creative company. This session is from 11am – 2pm, participants bring their own lunch. (February 22, March 22 & April 26 2023)

Tea + coffee and biscuits (including gluten free options and plant based milk) are provided.

If you have symptoms of Covid or are feeling unwell, please stay at home. We will be following all government advice at these workshops.

It’s important to share that during the summer months, we’ll be taking our cues from the Fire Danger Ratings updates from the Bureau of Meteorology site. When an Extreme (75-99) or Catastrophic Fire Danger Rating is declared for the Mt Lofty Ranges, classes or groups planned by Fabrik for Bushland Park will be cancelled (with rescheduling an option).
