Create your own piece of contemporary ARMOUR, a cleverly designed, bold + beautiful bangle with jewellery designer Sonja Clark
About the ARMOUR / OUR ARM workshop
Create a uniquely personal piece of wearable art under the expert tuition of Adelaide jewellery designer Sonja Clark.
In this workshop you will be creating an extremely flexible, lightweight and colourful cuff from a material that conforms to the shapes of your arm. You’ll make this cuff style bangle using unexpected materials, from repurposed and formerly commercial sources, including soft woven plastic, recycled and brightly coloured poly propylene and sterling silver.
You’ll select from an array of colourful poly propylene pieces, to determine the shape, colour and design of your bangle. During the workshop we’ll learn more from Sonja about the materials used and the jewellery making techniques you’ll learn. To finish, you’ll have the opportunity to stamp letters or a short word into the sterling silver that clamps the cuff together, personalising the finished piece as your very own.
The title of this bangle; ARMOUR / OUR ARM is inspired by the way that this soft and lightweight material is designed to protect, resist and defend in it’s originally intended commercial use as woven hose coverage. This, coupled with the way it conforms to the shape of our arm and can carry meaningful and personal messages of strength.
All materials, expert tuition and afternoon tea are included. This workshop is suitable for beginners.
The class size will be capped at 12 participants to ensure lots opportunity for conversation and learning. However, we do need a minimum of 6 participants to proceed (lots of communication and a full refund would be made to those who have registered in this instance.)
