The art & process of knotting

Presented as part of the 2026 Adelaide Fringe Festival, Ties community exhibition showcases knotting techniques, traditions and ideas found in textile arts, trade and visual arts practices.

Included are traditional, conceptual, playful and experimental approaches to the theme of knotting. The artists have considered the history, culture and symbolism of knotting (as well as their personal narratives) and have represented them in various mediums, such as textiles, garments and accessories, painting, printmaking and more.
