Fabrik extends an open invitation to our community near and far to take part in our online photographic exhibition this SALA.

Entitled What I Hold Dear, participants are encouraged to share an image that represents what is dear to them.

Images will be uploaded onto our website for viewing during SALA (1-31 August 2020).

Rene` Strohmayer – I took this image on my way to work earlier this year. These were the first new shoots of growth on trees that I hold dear. Before the bushfires I felt blessed to drive through the glorious environment to and from work each day. Now each day, I still hold them dear, along with a new found sense of absolute awe for their ability to regenerate.

Kendrea Rhodes – This photograph was taken at 8:31pm on Thursday 19th of December at Lobethal Bushland Park. Little did we know that 15 hours later it would all be gone. This photograph represents the memories that I hold dear, with the subject in focus representing the old Bushland Park that we knew, and the blurred subject foreshadowing the unknown future of Bushland Park. To go even deeper, I hold dear the unknown future that we created for our family by evacuating. On face value, of course, I hold these two wonderful people very dearly and I am so grateful that they are both in my future!

Christabel Marek – The very first blossoms appearing in my garden, a sign that Spring is nearly here. I hold this image dear because it reminds me that despite all the challenges around us, nature keeps moving forward and in such a beautiful way.

India Flint – in my dreams this garland is a tattered but powerful talisman made with sprigs from trees planted by my father entwined by cloth from a dress of my mother’s, worked to keep those I hold dear safe from harm
