Create snuggly pouches for orphaned or injured wildlife
Be guided by Anastasia from the Boomerang Bags group of the Adelaide Hills to sew ‘3D Hanging Slings’ and ‘Day +Night pouches’ for Joeys or Wallabies.
Sewers of any skill level are welcome. In the workshop we will be shown the individual patterns step-by-step and then get busy with the sewing!
We’ve been in conversation with local wildlife carers to ensure that what is created in this workshop is what’s needed. We can confirm that these styles of bags are ‘just right’ and welcome. Any surplus not needed locally is needed on Kangaroo Island for their Joeys and Wallabies.
This session will be taking place in the midst of the ‘Re:Gathered’ Fundraiser event – outdoors (under a marquee, with tables + chairs + electricity all set up) on our lovely ‘Mill Square’. The Native Animal Network of SA will be also at the event, nearby with their joeys in pouches (made by good folks like yourself) for us to say hello to.
What to bring:
– Any 100% cotton sheets or left over fabric that you might be able to donate for use in the workshop
– Please bring along your sewing machine, we have a few spares available but encourage you to BYO. **Please also note that as a safety measure all machines will be quickly tested and tagged by our friendly electrician at the start of the workshop.
This workshop is brought to you as part of a glorious collaboration all wrapped up as a part of the ‘RE:gathered’ Fundraiser Lobethal Bushfire Recovery Market + event with :
– bookings and arrangements made by Fabrik Arts + Heritage (‘stretching’ our program outdoors!)
– Boomerang Bags Adelaide Hills – sharing with us their knowledge and the facilitation expertise of Anastasia
– the lovely people from Gathered and See Design.
